Movable valve member for a first stage regulator

The movable valve member (44) is disposed within a first stage regulator within a regulator body (10) for receipt of pressurised gas. The movable valve member is formed of a metal section having an enlarged head (48) and an attached stem (50) with a shoulder (62) integral with the stem adjacent the enlarged head. An elastomeric or plastics material (60) surrounds the head and extends peripherally. A support washer (66) is pressed over the shoulder against the plastics moulded surface and is frictionally engaged to support the elastomeric or plastics material. A process for making the movable valve member is also provided.
