Production of finely-divided polymers derived from N-vinyl- formamide

A process for the production of finely-divided polymers of N-vinylformamide (NVF) and polymers which may contain vinylamine units (I), by radical polymerisation of NVF and 0-80 wt.% comonomers (based on total monomer) in aqueous solutions or mixtures at 20-150 deg C, optionally followed by acid or basic hydrolysis of NVF units to vinylamine units. The monomers are polymerised in a reactor fitted with at least two parallel rotating stirrer shafts with stirrer organs, and the resulting water-containing gel polymer is pulverised with the rotating stirrers and then discharged from the reactor.
