The G surge voltage, which is generated when a B terminal serving as the output terminal of an AC power generator for vehicle comes off, is quickly lowered. A permanent magnet (28) which serves as a field as a second field source, together with a field winding (24) which is provided as a first field source, is attached to the rotor (20). The direction of magnetic flux generated from the magnet (28) is opposite to that of the magnetic flux which is generated from the winding (24) when the winding (24) is energized. The quantity of the magnetic flux generated from the magnet (28) corresponds to the quantity of the magnetic flux generated from the winding (24). Therefore, the cross section of the magnetic path of the field and the inductance of the winding (24) are reduced, the magnetic flux interlinked with the winding (24) is quickly reduced by the magnetic flux from the magnet (28), and the G surge voltage is lowered quickly.
|
