<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the production of a physiologically active substance by a cell in high productivity and free from the defects of conventional processes to necessitate a complicate concentration and purification process because of low concentration of the physiologically active substance in the medium, result in a low productivity of the physiologically active substance per unit volume and cause the danger of the contamination with impurities. SOLUTION: A cytotoxic chemical substance is added to a medium in an amount corresponding to >=0.1% of the D50 value to stimulate a cell and the objective physiologically active substance is produced with the cell while keeping the increased productivity of the physiologically active substance. The cell to be used in this process is a hydridoma cell producing antibody, etc., a cell producing antigen, a cell producing cytokine, etc. It is necessary to select the concentration of the chemical substance within a range not less than 0.1% of the D50 value and not to cause the total death of the cells.</p> |
