PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vegetable diesel fuel oil by separating a reaction product obtained by reacting a used edible oil from which a solid substance, water and an odorant have been removed with a catalyst-containing alcoholic solution into a light liquid and a heavy liquid and removing the impurities such as a residual catalyst, odorants, colored substances and water from the light liquid by adsorption by an solid adsorbent. SOLUTION: A catalyst containing at least one alkali substance selected among KOH, K2 CO3 and potassium alcoholate is dissolved in an alcohol to obtain a catalyst-containing alcoholic solution. Used edible oils produced from restaurants, food plants, etc., are filtered to removed solid substances and heated to remove water and odorants therefrom. Such a used edible oil is mixed with the alcoholic solution under agitation to obtain a reaction product of the used edible oil with the alcohol. The reaction product is separated into a light liquid and a heavy liquid. The light liquid is mixed with a solid adsorbent to remove impurities such as a residual catalyst, odorants, colored substances and water, and the mixture is separated into the light liquid and the solid adsorbent.
|
