OIL ADSORBING POLYMER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adsorb plural org. active components by preparing a monomer mixture contg. a specified amt. of a polyunsatd. monomer and then forming an aggregate or lump of fine particles having a specified bulk density and capable of adsorbing a specified amt. of a lipophilic material of the total amt. of the resultant polymer and the adsorbed lipophilic material. SOLUTION: A polyunsatd. monomer is dissolved in a silicon-contg. solvent to prepare a monomer mixture contg. >=60wt.% of the monomer. The monomer is then polymerized by a sedimentation polymn. method in an inert atmosphere to produce fine particles having 0.02-0.01g/cm<3> bulk density and capable of adsorbing a lipophilic material by >=80wt.% of the total amt. of the resultant polymer and the adsorbed lipophilic material. An aggregate or lump capable of adsorbing plural org. active components is formed from the fine particles.
