PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an α-mannose chain bond specific lectin having characteristics of precipitation reaction hardly inhibited by the highly concen trated α-mannose derivative even if the α-mannose derivative is present in the precipitation reaction of the lectin with a polysaccharide or a glycoprotein having α-mannose chain such as a yeast mannan. SOLUTION: This new lectin has following physicochemical properties: (1) having 5,000-15,000 molecular weight measured by a gel filtration chromatography; (2) having 5,000-15,000 molecular weight measured by SDS gel electrophoresis method; (3) having a component molar ratio of amino acids of asparatic acid:threonine:serine:glutamic acid:proline:glycine:alanine:valine: methionine:isoleucine:leucine:tyrosine:phenylalanine:histidine:lysin:a rginine regulated so as to be (22.5-27.5):(7.3-9.0):(7.4-9.1):(7.1-8.7):(0.3-0.5): (14.0-18.0):(3.5-4.4):(4.3-5.3):(0.2-0.4):(2.8-3.5):(4.7-5.8): (0.6-0.8):(0.7-0.9):(0.7-0.9):(4.4-5.4):(8.3-11.1); and (4) specifically binding to a mannose chain. |
