PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mix an old liquid and a new liquid uniformly and stabilize the characteristics of the ink by supplying a new recording liquid to a recording head through the first and second subsidiary tanks from a main tank and recovering a used and degraded recording liquid to a recovery tank through the first subsidiary tanks. SOLUTION: A recording liquid is filled in a main tank 1, a tank 3 communicates with a tank 2 via a circuit having a pump 5, and with an upstream circuit of a head 8. The tank 2 communicates with the main tank 1 via a circuit having a valve 6 and receives new ink from the main tank 1. The tank 2 also communicates with the downstream circuit of the head 8, receives a flow of used old ink. The old ink and the new refilled ink merge with each other in the tank 2 and agitated by an agitator 10. In the tank 2, a sensor detects the level of deterioration and the amount of the recording liquid, communicates with the recovery tank 4 through a circuit having a valve 7 and recovers used ink into the tank 4. |
