In combination with a coin operated device which has a coin slot and a coin mechanism for evaluating coins and allowing the desired operation of the coin operated device, a coin guard which projects substantially perpendicularly out from the coin slot. The coin guard has a coin entrance and shoulders defining a coin chute therein to provide a coin travel path to the coin slot.
