<p>Expandable and self-expanding stents (30), optionally including control over end to end shortening during expansion, are disclosed. The stents (30) have a plurality of rings (60) in an array, with selecting links between the rings (60) to provide articulation as appropriate. The rings (60) have at least one and preferably a number of expansion cells (66). The cells (66) can be either a complex curve based arrangement, a combination of straight, helical and counter-helical segments, or hybrids of such arrangements. Methods of producing the devices are also disclosed, including various etching methods.</p> |
