PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CO gas sensor that has an improved selectivity of CO gas, especially extremely reduces the influence to the detection of CO by oxygen that exists together, and operates accurately at a high temperature. SOLUTION: A device is constituted so that a CO gas sensor consisting of a CO gas detection electrode 3 and a reference electrode 2 using gold or gold alloy that is electrically connected to at least one portion of the surface of a solid electrolyte substrate 1 with an oxygen ion conductivity can be mounted. In this case, the change in an electromotive force due to adsorption/oxidation of carbon monoxide gas in the detection electrode 3 when a constant current is allowed to flow between the reference electrode 2 and the detection electrode 3 or a current value due to the oxidation reaction of carbon monoxide gas in the detection electrode 3 when a voltage between the reference electrode 2 and the detection electrode 3 is maintained constantly are measured, thus determining carbon monoxide. |
