摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydride secondary battery which is superior in storage characteristic and productivity. SOLUTION: In this secondary battery, an electrode body 4 of a winding structure, wherein a positive electrode 1 having nickel hydroxide as an active material and a negative electrode 2 having a hydrogen storage alloy as an active material are wound with separators 3 interposed, is inserted in a battery can 5. A placing layer of an alkali resistant metal having a thickness equal to or more than 0.2μm and less than 2μm, formed on an inner surface of the battery can 5, zinc or a zinc compound, is contained in the positive electrode 1, and zinc ions and at least one kind of metallic ions selected from among molybdenum ions, tungsten ions, and chromium ions are made to coexist in an electrolytic solution. Nickel being preferable as the alkali-resistant metal for making up this plating layer, content of the zinc or the zinc compound in the positive electrode 1 being preferably 1 to 5weight% converted into zinc oxide with respect to hydroxide, quantity of the zinc ions in the electrolytic solution being preferably 0.5weight% or more in terms of zinc, the quantity of the metallic ions coexisting with this zinc ions is preferably 0.5weight% or more converted into the corresponding metals.
