PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium iron composite oxide which has charge and discharge reversibility as electrode active material used for a nonaqueous battery by containing rhombic lithium iron composite oxide in which a mole ratio of lithium and iron are in a specified orientation range and a crystal structure is a space group Pna 21. SOLUTION: Electrode active material for a nonaqueous battery contains a rhombic lithium iron composite oxide (orth-Li-FeO2 ) in which a mole ratio (x) (Li/Fe) of lithium (Li) and iron (Fe) is x<1, and a crystal structure is a space group Pna 21. As cycle characteristics, in the relationship between the number of cycles and the discharge capacity, the discharge capacity when charge and discharge is repeated in a range of 15 to 4.5V exceeds slightly 50mAh/g at a first cycle, is stable in the vicinity of 43mAh/g at a second cycle and later, and shows much larger discharge capacity than 20mAh/g of conventional products. In this way, the electrode active material is equipped with also a high discharge capacity. |
