PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emphasize vividness by preventing an image from giving noisy impression due to contour component emphasis-processed at a part at the low luminance level of image at the time of emphasizing the contour component of the image in an image processor so as to reduce the blur of an output image. SOLUTION: The luminance components of designated pixel data and pixel data of the peripheral neighboring pixel of a specified pixel corresponding to this specified pixel data are read out (S1) to obtain a variation L between the value of the luminance component of pixel data of this read out designated pixel and the value of the luminance component of pixel data of the peripheral neighboring pixel (S2). When this variation L becomes over a prescribed value M and the designated pixel data is judged to be the contour component (S3), the designated pixel data is given contour emphasizing processing based on a correcting efficient K previously fixed corresponding to the level of the luminance component of this designated pixel data. Thereby, only at the time of being judged to be a contour component, contour emphasizing processing according to the luminance level can be executed to prevent a pseudo contour from being emphasized at an image part of gentle light/shade. |
