<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a decoded image more improved in image quality. SOLUTION: A prediction tap generating circuit 32 generates prediction taps of a plurality of patterns to a noticeable picture element selected among picture elements being components of a low definition(SD) image obtained by interleaving a high definition(HD) image at an interleave circuit 31, and a classification adaptive processing circuit 33 conducts adaptive processing to obtain a predicted value of the HD image through linear combination of a predicted tap and a prescribed predicted coefficient. Then a prediction error calculation circuit 34 calculates a predicted error of a predicted value obtained from each of the predicted taps of a plurality of the patterns with respect to the HD image, and a tap pattern code addition circuit 36 adds a pattern code corresponding to the predicted tap by which a minimum predicted error is obtained among the predicted taps of a plurality of the patterns to a picture element value of the noticeable picture element.</p> |
