PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wood-based molded product having an excellent mechanical strength and further excellent in toughness which is an index of flexibility by adding a specific silane coupling agent to a mixture of a thermoplastic resin with wood meal as main raw materials and subsequently molding the mixture. SOLUTION: This method for producing a wood-based molded product comprises homogeneously mixing a mixture of a thermoplastic resin with wood meal having a chip diameter of 50μm to 2mm as main raw materials with a silane coupling agent an aminoalkyl group or an N-substituted aminoalkyl group, such asγ-(2-aminoethyl) aminopropyltrimethoxysilane,γ-(2-aminoethyl) aminopropyl dimethoxysilane,γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane orγ- anilinopropylmethoxysilane, and subsequently molding the obtained molding material. The silane coupling agent is preferably added in an amount of 0.1-5.0wt.%.
