PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a target value while reducing the carbon concn. in molten iron at the time of producing the molten iron by packed layer system by using a cylindrical furnace. SOLUTION: Firstly, coke containing a flux is charged between the furnace bottom and primary tuyeres 3. This coke is heated by blowing combustible gas and fuel from tuyeres 9 at the furnace bottom, and bed coke 6B having a prescribed layer height corresponding to the target carbon concn. in the molten iron is formed under consideration of the compensation for consumption of the carbon during this operation. Successively, scarp and additional coke are charged in order, and at the time of starting the melting operation, the layer height of the bed coke 6B is estimated from the material balance of the carbon, the cross sectional area of the furnace and the bulk density of the coke based on the analyzed value of the exhaust gas. The charging quantity of the coke is adjusted so that the bed coke becomes a prescribed layer height to control the carbon concn. in the molten iron to the target value.
|
