[Also in Division C2] Developer compositions comprise an aqueous solution of an alkaline material, a silver halide solvent and a silver halide developing agent of formula R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>NOH, where R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are both alkoxyalkyl or alkoxyalkoxyalkyl, or one is such a radical and the other is alkyl or alkenyl, or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> together with the nitrogen atom from a heterocyclic ring substituted by at least one alkoxy radical (see Division C2). A diffusion transfer photographic process comprises developing an exposed silver halide emulsion with an aqueous alkaline solution containing a compound as defined above and a silver halide solvent to effect transfer of a positive silver image to an image-receiving layer superposed on the emulsion. A specified aqueous developing composition contains sodium carboxymethylcellulose, NaOH, 6 introbenzimidazole nitrate, Na 2 SO 3 and Na 2 S 2 O 3 and a compound as above. |
