PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read out a bar code surely while eliminating the effect of mechanical vibration or electrical noise incident to printing operation by performing the printing operation and the bar code reading operation separately for the going path and the returning path of a head carrier reciprocating on the same line. SOLUTION: When the bar code reading operation does not precedes the printing operation, print processing is effected in the going path of a head carrier 3 which is moved on the return path without feeding the line and a bar code reader 6 is actuated to read out a bar code when the head carrier 3 is moving on the return path. The printing operation and the bar code reading operation are performed surely and separately for the going path and the returning path of the head carrier 3 reciprocating on the same line. According the arrangement, a bar code can be read out surely while eliminating the effect of mechanical vibration or electrical noise incident to the printing operation. |
