摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of emission in a vehicle provided with an engine when the engine is started under a high load. <P>SOLUTION: In a vehicle that includes an electrically heatable first catalyst EHC in an exhaust channel of an engine and a second catalyst disposed downstream of the EHC, an ECU predicts that the load after the start of the engine will be higher than the load that corresponds to the exhaust gas purification capability of the EHC (namely, exhaust gas cannot be purified by the EHC), and starts an engine motoring control to forcibly rotating the engine by an electric motor (S32), if, during pre-heating control to electrically heat the EHC before the start of the engine, the required drive force F is greater than a predetermined value F1 and the amount of increase &utri;F in the demanded drive force F per unit time is greater than a predetermined amount &utri;F1 (YES in S31). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
