PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make joining attainable by proper clamp load, and at the same time to prevent generation of a flaw of a product at the joining part and to improve rolling yield by forming wedge shape projection with a specified angle on the clamping part to clamp and press a preceding slab and a succeeding slab to sink in the opposing slab. SOLUTION: The ridge line of a wedge shape projection 7 formed on the clamping part is prepared to be intersected at right angles with the direction of transfer of a steel plate, and the projection angleθis 90-140 deg.. Preferably, the point of wedge shape projection has a radius R and the projection angleθis 80-140 deg. instead of 90-130 deg.. Further, in the case of joining slabs (2m in width, 40mm in thickness) with wedge shape projection angleθof 120 deg. and provided with a tip R, the apparent coefficient of friction (pressing force/clamping force) is made 0.6 or the like. By the frictional force between the clamping part and the slab, the pressing force required for joining is obtainable preferably from the view point of a proper installation scale and prevention of a flaw.
