Bridge for supporting the strings of a musical instrument

The bridge is provided to support the strings (4) of a musical instrument. The instrument has an instrument body (1) and an acoustic convertor esp. a membrane microphone (10). A closed air-type air chamber (8) lies in front of the sound pick-up side of the convertor. The air chamber (8) extends transverse to the longitudinal direction of the strings (4) and over the zone (2) taken up by the adjacent strings (4). The bridge (5) carrying the strings (4) forms a bounding wall of the air chamber (8) or is arranged on a wall defining the air chamber (8). The air chamber (8) preferably has at least three elastic narrow sides. The bridge (5) is preferably perpendicular to the surface of the instrument body (1) and forms a broad side of the air chamber (8).
