PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect foreign matter bitten by the clearance between the paste application member and the doctor member. SOLUTION: A doctor roll 22 is made movable in the direction of separation from a paste application roll 21. The rod 47A of an air cylinder 47 is linked to the roll 2 in an integrally displaceable manner. The cylinder 47 is provided with a piston detecting sensor 48 which detects the piston integrated with the rod 47A. When foreign matter is stuck to the roll 21 and is bitten by the clearance between the rolls 21 and 22, the roll 22 and the piston displace in the direction of separation from each other, and the displacement of the piston is detected with the sensor 48. Thus, the bite of foreign matter can be automatically detected by means of the cylinder 47 and sensor 48. |
