PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light control element making light propagating through a polymer waveguide, etc., at a multi-mode a signal and functioning as a transistor by providing drive means light receiving control light, converting it to thermal energy and bend deforming a diaphragm with its thermal energy, using the diaphragm bend deforming according to the control light and controlling the propagated light. SOLUTION: When the control light Sc1 isn't supplied to a control light fiber 5, since the diaphragm 1 is curved in a recessed shape, input light outputted from an input light fiber 6 is reflected by a reflection surface 1a to be converged, and is inputted to an output light fiber 7 to be propagated as output light. When the control light Sc1 is supplied, an opto-thermal conversion member 4 absorbs the light energy of the control light to diverge the thermal energy, and a thermal expansion/contraction member 3 is expanded, and the diaphragm 1 is deformed toward the outside space in a projection shape. The input light is reflected by the reflection surface 1b to be diverged, and a light quantity entering the output light fiber 7 is reduced remarkably, and the light quantity of the output light is reduced also. |
