PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article having a microbe-excluding coat and constituted of metal, ceramic or plastic and a manufacture and usage of the article. SOLUTION: A microbe-excluding coat constituted of cyan-alkylated hydroxyalkylcellulose is provided. The coat can be modified by a plasma processing, a corona discharge or irradiation by radiation abundant in energy. Accordingly, an article having this coat is suitable for the use as a catheter or a stent, for instance, for the purpose of medical treatment or industrial purposes.
