PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate a processing speed and to improve efficiency by successively recognizing inputted characters in a recognition processing direction and interrupting a character recognition processing for the slip at the time of recognizing a stop mark set beforehand. SOLUTION: Image data are successively taken out in the direction of an arrow A and the characters surrounded by a frame for a format are successively segmented. Then, the characters are recognized and character coded. A character frame is recognized for a first row, the written characters are segmented one by one from an area surrounded by the character frame and character coded data are held first. In this case, the character recognition of a forth row is performed. At the time, the stop mark 5 is recognized. Then, whether or not the stop mark is detected is judged. Thus, when the stop mark 5 is detected, a processing for interrupting the character recognition operation of the character frame thereafter is advanced. That is, when the stop mark 5 is detected, all work thereafter is interrupted and the processing of the next slip is advanced. |
