A regenerator pump is described which adds energy to a fluid which uses an impeller having a rotation axis and first and second surfaces axially separated, extended radially. A wrapping encloses the propeller and has a fluid entrance and a fluid exit separated by a divider. The wrapping has first and second side walls separated axially, extended radially that face the first and second services of the impeller respectively. Knives or blades which form extended axial and radially on an external radial periphery of the impeller for pushing the liquid from the entrance towards the exit as the impeller turns around the rotation axis. A fixed surface is formed in at least a side wall of the wrapping for directing the backflow fluid towards the impeller. The improved operation characteristics and the extended scales are achieved through the modification of the configuration of the impeller blade and/or through the modification of the side channel configuration of the pump chamber in an asymmetric form. The blades can be modified to include a base portion radially inwards that extends in a direction generally backwards with respect to the rotation of the impeller and a point portion radially outwards extending in a direction generally forwards. The knives can also include a beveled surface on the back edge of the base portion. The chamber of the impeller can be modified in a separate way expending a side channel in the wrapping, or inserting a divider between the side channel and the remaining portion of the wrapping defining the chamber of the impeller.
