Removal of fibre clumps from a suspension

To remove fibre clumps from a watery fibre suspension (S), derived from used paper materials, it is passed through at least one flow channel (1), with a variable cross section in the flow direction, which alters the flow speed. Hydraulic shear forces are developed in the flow channel (1), with forces which are strong enough to break up at least a significant portion of the bonded clumps in the suspension.
