Heart wall movement detection and evaluation arrangement

The arrangement includes probe (10) containing an oblong elastic hollow body (12), which is inserted through the mouth or nose of the patient in his oesophagus. At least one closed elastic chamber (16) is formed at the hollow body (12), which is arranged in the oesophagus in the height of the heart. The elastic chamber is in contact with the oesophagus wall, whereby heart wall movements are transferred over the oesophagus wall and cause volume changes in the chamber. At least one pressure sensor converts the pressure in the chamber into an electric signal, and an evaluation unit (34) evaluates the electric signal with respect to the heart wall movements. The chamber is preferably formed around the distant end (14) of the hollow body.
