The invention concerns the use of 9,10-secocholesta-5,7,10(19)-triene-1,3-diol, or alfacacidol, for preparing a medicine for the treatment and/or prevention of solid cancer in human beings, in particular lung cancer and brain cancer. The effective dose ranges between 0.25 and 10 mu g/day for an adult weighing 60 Kg.
