The correction method involves inserting a cassette (17) from the outside into a holder (31) in a recorder housing (1). The holder is transported using a motor (70) between the insertion/discharge position and a recording position in the recorder housing, in which vehicle operating data can be recorded on the recording sheet (21) in the cassette. The destination of the holder is altered from one position to another, if the time elapsed since the start of the motor (70) from one position to another exceeds a predetermined time, before the holder reaches the other position. The transporting of the holder is stopped and the existence of an anomaly is signalled from the outside of the recorder housing (1), if the number of alterations of destination of the transported holder exceeds a determined number.
