CATALYST FOR PRODUCING BISPHENOL, ITS PREPARATION AND PRODUCTION OF BISPHENOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of bisphenol from ketones and phenols by using an industrially advantageous heterogeneous catalyst with a high conversion rate and selectively rate. SOLUTION: In a reaction of the ketones and phenols, an org. high molecular siloxane having a sulfonic acid group and a mercapto group in which a silica matrix is formed by hydrolyzing at least one kind selected from a group consisting of an org. sulfonic acid group-containing silane compd. capable of forming high molecular siloxane matrix and an org. sulfonic acid group- containing low molecular siloxane and a mercapto group-containing silane compd. capable of forming the high molecular siloxane matrix, then gelling the obtained mixed sol by subjecting to dehydration and condensation is used as the catalyst.
