PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the voice synthesizer, in which the search time for the name of a place is reduced, a correct name of the place is retrieved, the size is made smaller and the price is reduced, by providing the word dictionary sections which are individually provided for every kind of words and a dictionary selecting means which selects the word dictionary section used while converting character data to a word. SOLUTION: A dictionary section 5 is divided into a general word dictionary section and plural area dictionaries in which area peculiar data, for example, proper noun data of the places, are stored for every area. A language processing section 4 only selects necessary portions from each section 5 and uses for the processing. A data transmitting section 1 receives the requests through information signals such as the locations detected by the navigation section of a data receiving section 2, selects the area oriented place name dictionary of the section 5 and transmits the information on the names of places to the section 2. The section 2 adds accents and intonation to the sounding data transmitted from the section 1 and voice outputs the name of the place based on the location information. |
