PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image and audio recording reproducing device where a user of a personal computer or the like fetches easily image and audio compression data and the convenience such as reproducing and editing operation is taken into account. SOLUTION: A still image and an audio area inputted respectively to an image input terminal 1 and an audio input terminal 3. The inputted still image is executed by the compression processing of a JPEG system through a JPEG CODEC 5 and the result is recorded in a recorder 8 through a multiple separation part 7 as still image compression data. Furthermore, the inputted audio data are executed by the compression processing of an MPEG audio method through an MPEG CODEC 6 and the result is recorded in the recorder 8 through the multiple separation part 7 as audio compression data. A controller 9 conducts compression processing control and recording control by using control signals of a mode selection signal input terminal 10 and a shutter trigger input terminal 11.
