ATM CELL HEADER CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM cell header converter where header conversion for all channels is attained by one header conversion section without provision of a header converter to each channel. SOLUTION: Input cells terminated by input termination sections 101-10N connecting to input channels 1-N are multiplexed by a multiplexer 31. An input header conversion section 50 in common to all channels applies header conversion to input cells 34 after multiplexing. The input header conversion section 50 generates an input index 53 used to reference the input header conversion table 60 based on a virtual path identifier VPI and a virtual channel identifier VCI of the input cells 34 and a number 33 of an input channel outputted from the multiplexer 31 and through which the input cells pass.
