PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate of a high durability and high polarization degree type which is superior in heat resisting characteristics and workability by coating at least one face of a polarizing film, whose water content is a specific value or more, with urethane prepolymer and forming a film layer. SOLUTION: A polarizing plate is so formed that at least, one face of a polarizing film of water content 8wt.% or more is coated with urethane prepolymer formed by reacting a compound, which has two or more isocyanate groups in a molecule, with a compound which has active hydrogen reacting with the isocyanate group in a molecule so as to be formed into a film layer. The moisture in the polarizing film or moisture in an air is reacted with the urethane prepolymer to be hardened so that a strong resin film layer is formed. The urethane prepolymer as it is applied on the surface of the polarizing film so that it is superior in working aptitude and in coating, the water content of the polarizing film of the device material is controlled within a specific region so that high durability and high polarizing performance are provided. |
