Prodn of polyolefin tubular film with uniform cooling

Process for prodn. of (fibrillatable) polyolefin film comprises passing an extruded, inflated tubular film downwards in flat form between a pair of cooling rollers placed parallel with the surface of a cooling bath. The cooling rollers are rotatable, lie partly under the surface of the cooling bath, and are placed at such a distance from each other that the film does not become tightly pressed during its passage to the bath. Each of the cooling rollers is provided with an element for uniformly distributing cooling liquid on the surface of the roller. The construction enables the cooling rollers to be more rapidly and uniformly cooled. Polyolefine tubular film can be uniformly cooled and flattened at high rates by use of the process and apparatus.
