<p>Symmetric complex of Pt (III) and 2-mercaptopyrimidin, the mane of which is (Pt-Pt)-dichlorotetrakis[ν-(2(1H)-pyrimidinationate-N1:S2)]di-platinum, having formula (I), wherein S-N represent the anion 2-mercaptopyrimidinate. The platinum complex (I) is prepared by mixing an aqueous solution of K2PtCl4 with an aqueous suspension of 2-mercaptopyrimidine, preferably in a molar ratio of 1:2 at a temperature of 40 °C. The platinum complex (I) is useful as antineoplasic agent and shows an activity against human leukaemia and uterus cancer, which activity is higher than that of cisplatinum. It also has the additional advantage of a substantially minor toxicity than that of cisplatinum and of carboplatinum.</p> |
