Process to condition household refuse cools refuse to low temperature

A process to condition especially domestic refuse prior to open tip disposal or incineration is claimed. The refuse is placed in a receptacle and cooled and frozen using especially nitrogen gas or carbon dioxide to -120 deg C. The refuse is then heated in the same or another container to a temperature of +80 deg C. The refuse is heated by a microwave source operating at the same resonance frequency as that of the water molecule, or IR. Also claimed is a suitable assembly (1) having: (a) a lid (5) which is opened to admit refuse; (b) a swivel centre-flap (30) to the freezing chamber (10) with coolant inlets; and (c) a heating chamber (20) with heat source.
