FIELD: glass-plastic insulators for overhead power transmission lines. SUBSTANCE: insulator has binder- impregnated fiberglass bearing member, two terminating members, and shell; bearing member is made in the form of double-layer harness stranded of continuous fiberglass thread placed around terminating members. Its manufacturing process is characterized in that continuous thread of impregnated fiberglass is placed around terminating member thereby sequentially forming internal and external layers of harness of desired length and thickness whereupon internal layer is stranded and then both layers are stranded together. EFFECT: improved reliability, tracking resistance, and strength of insulator throughout entire length of bearing member; facilitated manufacture. 5 cl, 1 dwgr |
