A disc brake for motor vehicles has a pair of rotating discs (24, 25) between which are a pair of annular pad support rings (19, 20) connected to a mechanism (14, 15) with portions urged apart against the respective discs. The rings and mechanism are supported on a stationary annular support surrounding the discs. The support has openings so that the pads can be changed without diassembly of any of the mechanism or of the discs. The pads can have metal back plates engaging radial guide surfaces on the rings. Additionally the back plates may have radially outward extensions supported against circumferential movement on the support.
|
