Aqueous copolymer dispersion, used as self-adhesive coating on paper avoiding stickies in recycling

Aqueous dispersions with pH 2-7 contain a copolymer (I) of (a) 0.1-20 wt.% carboxylic anhydride with olefinic group(s) capable of free radical polymerisation; (b) 40-99.9 wt.% main monomer selected from 1-20 carbon (C) alkyl (meth)acrylates, vinyl esters of carboxylic acids with <= 20 C, vinyl aromatics with <= 20 C, ethylenically unsaturated nitriles, vinyl halides, vinyl ethers of 1-10 C alcohols and 2-8 C aliphatic hydrocarbons with 1 or 2 double bonds; and (c) 0-40 wt.% other comonomer(s). Also claimed are: (1) a method of producing the dispersions; (2) self-adhesive paper obtained by coating with a dispersion of this type; and (3) the use of the self-adhesive paper waste as raw material for paper manufacture.
