<p>The device comprises a polariser (P), a birefridgent polymer (B) and an analyser (A). A deformation of the polymer (B) by an external action (stretching or compression) induces a birefridgent at B converting it in a phase-shifter. The transparency of the panel comprised of the three elements P-B-A is regulated by modifying the phase shifting produced at B by the external action. Two configurations are possible. In the first configuration, the polarisation directions of the polariser and of the analyser are parallel. In this case, the panel is transparent. The external action onto a sheet B produces a progress opacity. In the second configuration, the polariser (P) in the analyser (A) are crossed. In the latter case, the panel is opaque. An external action on the means (B) generates more transparency for the panel. The device can be used to form panels for the distribution of indoor spaces, external enclosures, windows and other applications.</p> |
