A fabric structure for reinforcing a composite force-transmitting member (1) has two longitudinal legs (2,3) which cross each other. Each leg is reinforced with several crossing layers of fibre and the fibres of one leg penetrate the fibre layers of the other leg. The fabric structure is assembled by movable yarn guides (22 to 24, 25 to 27, etc) in the plane of each leg (2,3) on both sides of the cross-over, with each yarn guide having its own supply of yarn. The yarn guides have a turning guides at their ends to form a yarn loops which is picked up by fixing pins running in supports (54,55) as the yarn guides are withdrawn.
