PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the increase in the cell capacity and life prolongation of vanadium oxide based battery by mixing MoO3 with vanadium oxide in a dried chamber, enclosing the mixture in a silica tube and vacuum-sealing the tube and treating the vacuum-sealed mixture with heat. SOLUTION: MoO3 and vanadium oxide are quantitatively mixed in a dried argon atmosphere to prepare a mixture. The mixture is charged in a silica tube, vacuum-sealed, and heat-treated at 630-670 deg.C for 96-120 hours to prepare a vanadium oxide of the formula: Moy V2-y O5 ((y) is 0<y<0.5). The electrode properties of Mo0.3 V1.7 O5 is best from the view point of the primary charge- discharge behavior and the capacity in the continued cycles. Thus, low electric conductivity, narrow reversible cycle area and low discharge capacity can be improved. |
