An objective of the present invention is to provide a method for controlling an air washer which humidifies air while filtering the air using a detachable filter unit. According to the present invention, the method for controlling an air washer comprises: a step (S110) of detecting a humidifying and cleaning mode; a step (S120) of detecting a water level of a tank if the humidifying and cleaning mode is detected; a step (S130) of determining a humidifying amount; a step (S140) of controlling a speed of a blowing fan unit according to the humidifying amount determined in step (S130); a step (S150) of controlling a rotational speed of a disk unit; a step (S160) of determining whether a prescribed time has elapsed after operating the blowing fan unit and the disk unit; a step (S170) of detecting the water level of the tank after the prescribed time has elapsed to determine whether the water is at a drivable level; a step (S180) of notifying a insufficient water level if the water level detected in step (S170) is lower than the drivable water level; and a step (S190) of stopping the blowing fan unit and the disk unit if the water level detected in step (S170) is lower than the drivable water level. According to the present invention, the method for controlling an air washer humidifies air while filtering the air using a filter unit.
