PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gelatinized crop product with excellent in taste to humans and animals and capable of being manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: Ths crop product is composed of a gelatinized starch matrix containing a vegetable material to be the inulin source of an amount sufficient for supplying the inulin of at least about 0.25% by dry matter weight. Also, the manufacture is composed of gelatinizing the vegetable material to be a starch source, a protein source and the inulin source and forming a gelatinized starch and protein matrix containing the inulin. As the vegetable material, chicory or Jerusalem artichoke is suitable. The gelatinized crop product is preferably used by the form of pellets for pet food, swelling cereal grains for breakfast or swelling cereal flakes for the breakfast. |
