PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having a diphenylpiperazine structure and useful as a medicine for respiratory diseases, etc. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R1, R2 are each H, phenyl; R3 is OH, a 1-4C alkoxy, etc.; R4, R5 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, etc.; (m) is 0-4; (n) is 1, 2], e.g. (S)-(+)-1-[4,4-bis(4-fluorophenyl)butyll-4-[2-hydroxy-3-(phenylamino) propyl]homopiperazine. The compound of formula I, e.g. a compound of formula II, is obtained by condensing 4,4-bis(4-fluorophenyl)butyl chloride with homopiperazine in the presence of an alkali and subsequently condensing the condensation product with N-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)aniline in the presence of an alkali. |
