PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-base dispersion which hardly exhibits foaming, has a low odor, and is excellent in mechanical stability by subjecting an acrylic monomer component essentially contg. a carboxylated monomer and a glycidylated monomer to emulsion polymn. in the presence of an anionic reactive emulsifier. SOLUTION: The monomer component comprises 50-98.5wt.% (meth)acrylic ester (A) represented by the formula (wherein R<1> is H or methyl; and R<2> is 1-12C linear or branched alkyl), 0.5-10wt.% carboxylatedα,β-ethylenically unsatd. monomer (B), 1-20wt.% glycidylatedα,β-ethylenically unsatd. monomer (C), 0-10wt.% monomer (D) having a free-radical-polymerizable unsatd. group and at least one functional group (except monomers A and B), and 0-30wt.% monomer (E) copolymerizable with the foregoing monomers (except foregoing monomers). The reactive emulsifier used is one of a carboxylate type. |
