PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in balance of tackiness, adhesion and cohesion, adhesion of curved surfaces and secondary processing properties by formulating an acrylic aqueous dispersion and an emulsion type tackifier. SOLUTION: This aqueous pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprises (A) an acrylic aqueous dispersion obtained by carrying out an emulsion polymerization of 100 pts.wt. monomer mixture comprising (i) 0.1-5wt.% carboxyl group- containing unsaturated monomer, (ii) 60-99.8wt.% 4-18C alkyl ester of acrylic acid, (iii) 0.1-33.9wt.% other unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with these unsaturated monomers, and having (-63) to (-30) deg.C Tg and 70-90% gel fraction, and (B) an emulsion type tackifier consisting essentially of sticky resin having 85-140 deg.C softening point (preferably rosin or a derivative thereof). The formulating amount of the component B is preferably 5-40 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A. |
